The Rods
The Range
All Lennox Rods meet a specific fishing challenge.
They are not designed, unlike many of our competitor's rods, to meet just one criterion such as weight, casting action or length. And, they are certainly not designed just to find a place within a manufacturer's catalogue and price range!
All Lennox Rods are 'travel' rods
Alan Brown, their creator, was the first fly rod designer who set out to build, from scratch, a full collection of the highest quality travel rods that fitted into a suitcase, briefcase or car boot. At first, he did not know if it was possible to build a perfect 4 piece rod; by the end he believed no one ever had to buy a 2 piece rod again!
There are twenty rods in the Lennox range divided into 6 categories; each provides the optimum tools for any fly fishing challenges. The action of every blank has been specifically created to provide, we think, the perfect fishing rod in their class. Some are fast action so that experienced anglers can throw tight loops for greater distance and better wind penetration. These rods provide pin point accuracy and what we describe as 'authority'. In heavier line weights these rods will turn over heavy flies in strong winds.
Other rods load from tip to middle and are more adaptable to a wide variety of fishing conditions and to casting styles. They are perfect for delicate presentation of tiny flies without loss of accuracy or authority.
As importantly, the authority of Lennox Rods extends to their fish playing ability. There is no point in rod that casts well but cannot land big fish in awkward corners!
Fittings
Every Lennox Rod is fitted with the best reel seat we can find to match the rod's purpose. We have searched the world and import them from an American manufacturer.
Lennox Rods have also made a breakthrough in rod guide technology and have always acknowledged that, after the original design of the blank, that guides and their positioning are the most significant influence on a rod's performance. All of our World Series, Grilse and Stowaway Trout Rods are fitted with Recoil guides with unique characteristics.
- Solid nickel titanium 'shape memory' alloy - no coating to wear
- Totally corrosion proof in any environment
- Significantly lighter than conventional guides - 70% weight reduction
- Ultra hard and smooth for less friction and line wear
- Extreme flexibility and the ability to return to original shape after repeated deformation
Lennox Salt Water Rods are fitted with the finest high profile black Titanium snake and Fuji s.i.c butt and stripping rings.
Cork Handles
All Lennox Rods are available with a choice of handle shapes selected to match the rod's purpose. One of these always has a lesser diameter and may be more suitable for someone with smaller hands. The World Series and Stowaway Trout Rods are supplied with Flor Grade cork handles which are the finest and most luxurious available. The other rods which are likely to be used in harsher conditions are supplied with Super Grade handles from the same premier supplier. These satisfy most clients, however Flor Grade is available as an optional extra on all rods.
Threads and Finish
The blanks of every category of Lennox Rods are available in a choice of 3 selected colours. With each colour there is a choice of 3 complementary shades of whipping thread one of which is a match for the blank colour. This is the combination most clients choose. Those clients who prefer a natural carbon rod can chose either a 'polished' finish with only the whippings varnished with the finest epoxy, or an overall, matt epoxy translucent finish. Clients who wish to match the colour of a Lennox Rod they purchased between 2002 and 2006 before the company was re launched in 2008 should choose either Amber or Evergreen blanks with matching whipping threads.
If you want a different colour combination to those available in the shop, just ask! Telephone Allan Sefton on +44 (0)1438 313137
Cases
All Lennox Rods, except the Stowaways, are supplied in a labelled alloy tube with brass fittings. The screw top is engraved with the rod model and the client's initials. The two Stowaway Rods are supplied in Leather and Canvas cases with the client's initials matching the brass fittings. These luxury cases are available with all rods as an optional extra.
The Final, Personal Touch
Lennox Rods are expensive because they are manufactured and hand built in the UK to the highest quality standards and to individual order. This is why you can own a perfectly finished fly rod designed for exceptional, all-round performance, and also choose its colour and finish. As a final touch we hand write your name and the date of manufacture... a wonderful addition if this is a special gift for the fly fisherman who has everything!
